Apart from being a very popular
metropolitan city Jakarta is also a city with many cultures. This is easily
justified by the multi-national food available at different restaurants. Thai cuisine, Indian cuisine, Japanese cuisine and even Lebanese cuisine is easily available in
the city. Such is the Pastis Jakarta
restaurant which opened its doors to the public in the year 2008. The
restaurant is located in the Aston Kuningan Suites. Apart from the food, the
décor of the restaurant is also very unique and beautiful. The two toned wooden
interiors are colored with white and dark brown, resembling the Hot Chocolate
Vanilla Fudge available at the restaurant. An outdoor dining option is
also present and is one of the most popular parts of the restaurant.

Pastis Kitchen & Bar - Kuningan, Jakarta |
Greatly influenced by the French,
the joint is carefully divided in three sections: the bar, the dining and the
alfresco dining area. It is one of most beautifully designed restaurants in Jakarta. Although the Pastis Jakarta restaurant serves many
cuisines it specializes in the Italian variant. Pastis ranks among the top few
perfectionists when it comes to Italian food in Jakarta.
Starting with the innovatively
prepared drinks are two very special mock tails: The Lychee Vera and the Kiwi
Berry Crush. These are mainly ordered by people who prefer to use the sweet and
sour taste buds on their tongues. Talking about starters, the Gnocchi Gratinati
is the most ordered dish off the charts. The trademark Pastis Gnocchi scent and
flavor is served with oodles of gooey molten cheese. As for Pastas, Pastis has
a special homemade section that lets the customers mix and match so that they
get exactly what they want.

Nasi Goreng Ijo |
The Green Fried Rice or Nasi Goreng
Ijo is specialty at the joint. The chefs always recommend it to the new comers.
The dish is simple and it has two towers of green fried rice cooked to
perfection surrounded by a unique stir fry. The stir fry contains various meats
like chicken, meatballs and sausages; it also has chunks of fish and assorted
fresh veggies and pickles.
The dessert menu is quite long and
confusing at the restaurant, but for regular customers the shortlist only
contains two dishes: the Hot Chocolate Vanilla Fudge and Shaksoukla. Normally
they end up ordering both. The Hot Chocolate Vanilla Fudge is made with loads
of love and care and melts with the slightest contact. The after taste is
amazing. The Shaksoukla is a Moroccan dish which has a Filo Pastry garnished
with fresh cream fruits and crushed almonds.
The bar at the restaurant is classy
and fun at the same time. The calendar is always full of events containing live
music, DJs, sports, etc. Apart from these the club also has daily events like
Ladies night, acoustic night and happy hours. The bar is mostly overflowing
with youngsters and finding a place to sit is difficult after office hours. Making
a reservation beforehand is always a smart move. The locally brewed beers are
also worth a try for first timers.
