Indulge In Multi-national Flavors At The Pastis Jakarta Restaurant

Apart from being a very popular metropolitan city Jakarta is also a city with many cultures. This is easily justified by the multi-national food available at different restaurants. Thai cuisine, Indian cuisine, Japanese cuisine and even Lebanese cuisine is easily available in the city. Such is the Pastis Jakarta restaurant which opened its doors to the public in the year 2008. The restaurant is located in the Aston Kuningan Suites. Apart from the food, the décor of the restaurant is also very unique and beautiful. The two toned wooden interiors are colored with white and dark brown, resembling the Hot Chocolate Vanilla Fudge available at the restaurant. An outdoor dining option is also present and is one of the most popular parts of the restaurant.

Pastis Kitchen & Bar - Kuningan, Jakarta
Greatly influenced by the French, the joint is carefully divided in three sections: the bar, the dining and the alfresco dining area. It is one of most beautifully designed restaurants in Jakarta. Although the Pastis Jakarta restaurant serves many cuisines it specializes in the Italian variant. Pastis ranks among the top few perfectionists when it comes to Italian food in Jakarta.

Starting with the innovatively prepared drinks are two very special mock tails: The Lychee Vera and the Kiwi Berry Crush. These are mainly ordered by people who prefer to use the sweet and sour taste buds on their tongues. Talking about starters, the Gnocchi Gratinati is the most ordered dish off the charts. The trademark Pastis Gnocchi scent and flavor is served with oodles of gooey molten cheese. As for Pastas, Pastis has a special homemade section that lets the customers mix and match so that they get exactly what they want.

Nasi Goreng Ijo
The Green Fried Rice or Nasi Goreng Ijo is specialty at the joint. The chefs always recommend it to the new comers. The dish is simple and it has two towers of green fried rice cooked to perfection surrounded by a unique stir fry. The stir fry contains various meats like chicken, meatballs and sausages; it also has chunks of fish and assorted fresh veggies and pickles.

The dessert menu is quite long and confusing at the restaurant, but for regular customers the shortlist only contains two dishes: the Hot Chocolate Vanilla Fudge and Shaksoukla. Normally they end up ordering both. The Hot Chocolate Vanilla Fudge is made with loads of love and care and melts with the slightest contact. The after taste is amazing. The Shaksoukla is a Moroccan dish which has a Filo Pastry garnished with fresh cream fruits and crushed almonds.

The bar at the restaurant is classy and fun at the same time. The calendar is always full of events containing live music, DJs, sports, etc. Apart from these the club also has daily events like Ladies night, acoustic night and happy hours. The bar is mostly overflowing with youngsters and finding a place to sit is difficult after office hours. Making a reservation beforehand is always a smart move. The locally brewed beers are also worth a try for first timers.

Mamma Rosy's Authentic Italian Food

When most people think of Italian dishes they start to picture large family style meals such as spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, or even pizza. The truth is, though, that there is a lot more to Italian food than just pasta and a red sauce. That is exactly what Mamma Rosy wants to prove with their large menu of classic Italian dishes that are inspired from all parts of Italy, not just Rome. From hand-cut gnocchi to delicious, creamy risotto you can find many different items to choose from that will give you a taste of Italy you may have never experienced before.

The Restaurant

As soon as you enter Mamma Rosy you are going to feel at ease. The atmosphere perfectly blends elegance and charm and the large glass windows stream in wonderful natural light that gives the entire space a bright, organic feel. This restaurant is the perfect choice for a romantic evening with someone special in your life, but also casual enough that you could bring a client on a business meeting as well.

The Food

If the most you know about Italian food is spaghetti Bolognese, Mamma Rosy will change your mind forever. One of the best ways to start out a meal is with their insalata caprese. The dish is humble in its ingredients, but delicious in its flavor—the restaurant serves up the perfect portions of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil along with high quality olive oil to give you a starter you will come back for again.

If you want to try a dish without any pasta at all, consider one of their risotto dishes. The Risotto Al Fruitti Di Mare (fruit of the sea), is a bright and vibrant plate that offers the creamy richness of risotto along with a fresh sauce with quality seafood.

For dessert no Italian meal would be complete without Tiramisu or a scoop of fresh gelato.

Celebrating Centuries of Multicultural Dining in Jakarta

Travelling to Indonesia can help you to satisfy any thirst for exotic cuisine. There has simply never been a better time to awaken your senses with delightful meals in this culinary capital of Indonesia. The country is not only beautiful to visit with its many attractive monuments, but the selection of restaurant Jakarta has to offer will spoil any craving you may have for delicious food.

With more than 17.000 islands to explore, Indonesia is a paradise in the classic sense and offers a wealth of diversity due to the many ethnic groups that have inhabited the country in the past. While Indonesian cuisine is not so popular in the West, it has been influenced by many cultures and continues to have elements of Arabic, Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish and Chinese traditions. In fact, it is Chinese food traditions that brought the Indonesians soy sauce and noodles, which continue to make up a large portion of Indonesian cuisine.

Indonesia’s extraordinary diversity will bring you to a wide variety of tastes. Every one of Indonesia’s ethnic groups uses its own unique blend of herbs and spices to create a striking array of flavors ranging from sweet & sour to hot & spicy. Interestingly, some spices that are very abundant in Indonesia such as cloves and nutmeg are hardly ever used in most traditional dishes. However, there are still a wide range of aromatic roots such as galangal, turmeric and ginger as well as leaves of lemon grass, kaffir lime, pandan and Chinese celery that continue to dominate most popular recipes.

Sample Dishes

One of the most popular dishes hailing from the Padang region and a favorite among many Jakartans, is Rendang Sapi, made from dried beef mixed with coconut oil. Dishes from this region tend to be very spicy as a lot of chilly is added to each recipe. You can always ask for the spicy sauces on the side if you are not keen on spicy food.

Dishes originating from the Java region tend to be less spicy and tend to include sweet sauces. Common specialties include fried rice and noodles (Nasi Goreng & Bakmi Goreng), which are found in every restaurant in Jakarta.

To find traditional food in the heart of Indonesia’s capital, lookout for “Padang” cuisine, which are instantly noticeable by the layers of food basins in front of the restaurants. Upon entering these kinds of restaurants, you are usually given a wide choice of possible foods to choose from including many kinds of fishes and meats.
